Chemistry Department is the biggest department not only in college but in shivaji university area . It is the largest department imparting particularly chemical education to the students and catering the need of Nation in diverse fields.

It is established in 1958 as a part of Chhatrapati Shivaji College Satara. During last 60 years it has produced hundreds of chemists, teachers, researchers and well cultured human being.

The department has started post graduate course M.Sc.( Organic Chemistry) from 2008. The department has well equiped spacious laboratories. It is a recognized research center in chemistry. Many of the candidates have completed their Ph.D. work by doing all the practical work in our laboratories. It has well qualified excellent faculty some of them are Ph.D. guides.

Department has organized many National and International conferences/seminars.The faculty have published more than two hundred research papers in reputed national and international journals. Many of faculty have completed minor and major research projets.
