About YC Store
Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara took an important initiative to establish a student-run Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science Satara Earn and Learn Scheme Primary Consumer Store (YC Consumer Store) in the institute campus with respective outlets in the ladies' hostel as well as in Boys hostel. The aim behind this initiative is to help students learn valuable lessons about work culture, dignity of labour, and real-world business operations. By managing the store and offering products of which many they manufacture themselves, students are likely to gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, customer service, and teamwork.
This hands-on experience not only aligns with academic learning but also promotes values that are crucial for personal, professional and social growth of the students. The YC Consumer Store is an excellent way to integrate practical business skills along with the students' academic journey. With 90 students and 10 faculty members officially part of the store?s body, this initiative ensures that a wide range of perspectives and ideas are involved in its operations. The YC Consumer Store is a platform for the students to experience teamwork and makes them ready for the real-world environment.
All materials sold in the YC Consumer Store is sold on a no profit, no loss basis reinforcing the educational and service-oriented purpose of the store. This approach ensures that the primary objective is not to generate revenue but to provide students with real-world experience while also offering goods at fair prices. This model fosters an environment that prioritizes experiential learning and the holistic development of entrepreneurial skills without financial risk, making it an ideal approach for educational institutions. This initiative is not just an academic exercise but a stepping stone towards creating future leaders and entrepreneurs, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge.
